Social Isolation

Social Isolation

As older adults age at home, they are at an increased risk for social isolation, which can be detrimental to both the physical and mental health of older adults.

Social isolation was identified in the 2018 Needs Assessment as the most pressing issue for older adults in the region Impact1890 serves, with nearly a third of individuals living alone in a non-family household. For example, over half of older adults living in Washington, D.C. are alone.
